Interactive Vatnajökull Glacier 360° view

Perlan gives the first exhibition a trial run

Yesterday we opened the doors of the ice cave and the glacier exhibition to guests for the first time. We need to give our first exhibition in the Museum of Icelandic Natural Wonders: Glaciers and Ice Cave, a trial run to test the ticketing system and document the flow through the exhibition. Perlan was full of tourists and curious Icelanders yesterday who were enjoying this first exhibit of the museum.

A lot has been going on here in Perlan for the last few days, so it is enjoyable to be able to invite guests to enter the world’s first ice cave in a city, see the amazing view from above Vatnajökull Glacier, get to know the life forms on the glacier, the history of Vatnajökull Glacier and more fun facts. The trial run will end on 30 June, and on 2 July Perlan will open the exhibition formally. The building is open from 8:00-20:00

It is expecially rewarding to witness people flowing around the building again, into places that were little used and some that weren’t even there a year ago. On the way into the ice cave there re many interesting exhibits, plus the unique photo exhibition featuring the work of Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson who has been photographing the pearls of Iceland for decades.

We are going to offer 10.000 tickets for Glaciers and Ice Cave for 1 ISK. We encourage you to order your tickets as soon as possible before they run out. So please go directly to and use the coupon code “perlan”.

Welcome to Perlan. Please take a step into – and on top of – the glacier with us.
